xxxHOLiC Episode 4 – Uranai (Fortune-Telling)

Episode 3 was sorta bleh, but you got to see Watanuki wear Chobits ears. That episode was about some weird thinghs happening at school and his crush requested help from Yuuko and she sent Watanuki to check it out. There was a strong scent that was very overwhelming for Watanuki. He finds out there were 3 girls playing the Japanese version of the Ouija board. However, it appears they’re trapped and demon would kill them if the leave the board. Watanuki breaks up the party, only to find out that they were indeed ghosts themselves and pushed him over. Hopefully, Yuuko sent Doumeki with him and he rescued him just in time. Also a weird spiritual snake ended coming out and eating the ghosts and almost at Watanuki and Doumeki too, but Yuuko, through the wireless Chobits ears convinced the snake to only eat the ears and leave.
Episode 4 was much more fun, where they learn more about Watanuki’s past and actually visit some fortune tellers. We first meet a fake fortune teller who asks questions which make statements which can be interpretted in multiple ways. And the advice they give can be applied to almost any situation. The cool part was when Yuuko brought out a hankerchief and after Watanuki touched it, it became a butterfly and took them to a real fortune teller. It was a cute little old lady and she was cool. She delves into Watanuki’s past without Watanuki ever revealing anything. We learnt about his parents’ death was due to protecting him and that his dad was a wonderful cook. While this was going on, the pendulum was drawing something in the sand. By the time she finished, it drew a butterfly and that was his catalyst to change. Apparently Yuuko’s sign was a butterfly and that she would be Watanuki’s catalyst.
I wonder where this series will go from this point now.
