I just installed Akismet… where do you find the “number caught” statistic?
In your Site Admin > Manage > Akismet Spam, you’ll find all the spam that is has caught, sort of like a spam folder for email, but for comments instead. You can go through all of them or just click Delete All when you’re lazy. (I tend to get lazy when I see over 100 caught since my last deletion).
Near the top of that page, it’ll show:
Akismet has caught xxxx spam for you since you installed it.
The amount not caught is just an ongoing count that I have.
