So I started watching this new J-Drama (Japanese soap opera) called My Boss My Hero (recommended to me by HKenshin). Simply said, this is about the 1st son of the boss of a Japanese mafia. He’s a good fighter, but has no brains. By no brains, I mean he can’t even count to 27. So his father says, if he wants to one day take over the mafia, he’ll have to graduate from high school, or else he’ll pass the position onto his second sond.
Not wanting to lose the boss position, he decides to try high school (even though he’s already 27 years old). He slowly adapts and funny things just happen.

This is when Maki tries to teach one of his subordinates fractions. I thought the animation was hilarious.

This animation was cut and merged together. Maki has never been in love before and this is him experiencing his first love. It’s so sweet yet so painful. The more in love he gets, the bigger the little guy grows.

This is a clip I believe from episode 1 where Maki just started school and has no clue what’s going on. When the biology teacher looks around to choose a student to answer a question, Maki doesn’t want him to pick him, so he makes this scary face which scares the heck out of the teacher. The same thing happens with his math teacher, but his math teacher misinterprets the face as he really wants to answer it and picks on him. I guess that face is only something alpha-males would understand.

A clip from episode 4, during the Festival of Fright (or something like that), where classmates are paired off with each other (one male and one female) and go through this scary forest where the teacher dresses up as ghosts. It’s more like a test of bravery and Maki who isn’t afraid of anything, is afraid of the little guy pounding on his heart, as this is his first love. As the teacher warned him, love is scarier than the devil itself. And when the girl grabs his hand, his heart pounding goes through the roof and the only way he can think of combating it is by destroying everything along the path.
布丁爭奪戰1 (Pudding Battle 1)
This is a clip I believe from episode 1 where Maki begins to go to school and his favorite food is pudding. He finds out that his school cafeteria sells this awesome pudding, but only has 12 each day and when you have 500 students all wanting that pudding, you get a pudding battle.
So the raws I’ve been getting are rather huge. Each episode is between 600megs to 1GB. The resolution is pretty nice though at 704×396. Apparently, there’s a even higher resolution you can find on D-Addicts: 1280×720, but those file sizes are about 1.5GB to 2GB. As HKenshin says: you don’t need 1280 for jdrama when there are no hotties. There are a few cuties though. 🙂
I’ve also been downloading the Chinese subtitles from G.P.S. by downloading the torrent and just disabling all the other files besides the SSA file. They currently have up to episode 6. English subtitles are also available, but have been a bit slow. They’re currently up to episode 3 and can be found here: My Boss My Hero [Eng Subs].
