I finished watching The Wire – Season 2 (thanks to CDMCC for lending the DVDS to me). I would have to say the 2nd season was indeed better than the 1st. Season 3 is already out on DVD and it appears Season 4 is currently airing (but almost done).
Spoilers: (Show)
The story continues after Season 1 after they broke up the team and basically sent everyone into the abyss.
The new story doesn’t have much tie in with the 1st season. It still dealt with drugs, but is really talking about the comeback of the team. It starts off as an investigation detail on the union president of the dock unloaders because he pissed off a police chief.
McNulty on the other hands sends 14 dead unkonwn bodies over to homicide dropping their clearance rate from 51% to 39%, as a way to get back at Rawls.
However, soon the two investigations ties in with each other. This time they’re hunting “The Greek” as he seems to be controlling the supply of drugs and women (who end up as prostitues).
And the story progress from there.
There has been some internal conflict with the drug dealers. D’Angelo got awfully skinny. Not sure if it was for this show or soemthing happened, but man he got skinny. Stringer also ends up fooling around with his wife and ends up hiring someone to kill him. Really good setup for when Avon comes back out in Season 3.
That along with the fact that Stringer teamed up with Proposition Joe and gave him like half of the towers, which Avon forbid. Then in comes Brother Mouzone, a soldier/priest Avon hired to protect the towers from invasion. Stringer and Proposition Joe got the balls to send Omar to kill him, but Omar ends up not killing him as he has been fooled. Brother Mouzone also realizes someone is setting him up and will get to the bottom of this. Another good follow up story for Season 3.
Then there was all the sex scenes in Season 2, which I didn’t recall much about in Season 1.
