Just a brief overview, Rin and Shirou team up. However, it appears another student at school is a master and he/she’s been ordering their servant to absorb the mana from the students and is creating a force field around the entire school which Rin believes when is finished will kill everyone at school. So they go around breaking seals trying to slow down the force field.
Later on, you meet Rider, another servant and she openly attacks Shirou and Rin. Shirou gets injured protecting Rin. Also Saber told Shirou to summon her in case he was in any danger, but Shirou believed he could fight her off. Rin comes in later and helps out and pushes Rider back. You later learn that Shinji, Shirous archery friend, now a bastard, is the master of Rider. He claims the force field is for protection reasons and it isn’t him going around school taking mana from students, though previous scenes clearly show he is lying. He talks about how his family used to be magicians but their roots have long been dried, though they still have all the knowledge, just no way to apply it. So that’s why he wants to team up with Shirou who can perform sorcery, but doesn’t have the knowledge and attack Rin. Probably a personal vendetta since Rin rejected Shinji quite openly, but Shirou rejects the proposal since he’s already teamed up with Rin.
Shinji then mentions that there’s another servant at the temple. The temple is place where deal souls gather, but it also has a force field which weakens the servant. You meet a new master/servant in episode 8, but it doesn’t mention who they are, but it appears another sword wielder as the servant. Shirou goes back and discusses this with Rin and Saber, and Saber says they should go attack before they do, but Shirou likes to play the defense. Also Rin’s decided to move in with Shirou and Saber wants to sleep in the same room as Shirou in order to better protect him. Sakura of course is put in an awkward position since she sees Rin as a rival.
