So I finally decided to watch this movie as I’ve heard it many times. Initially I thought it was something Braveheart (also another movie I have not fully watched), where it’s about Scottish swordsman and the Highlander was a hero defending them. Turns out I was semi-right, but it really mixes into modern day. I was somewhat disappointed by the movie, but given it was made in 1986, it might’ve been great for its time.

So the premise of the movie is pretty easy to understand. There’s a few immortals in this world and one day, known as the gather, they’ll have to fight each other and the last man standing will gain something (power or item). Of course with immortals, there will be bad ones and good ones, and the good ones main purpose is to prevent the bad ones from taking over.
The movie is pretty much sword fights and telling the history of Nash.
Given that, there were quite a few things that bothered me.
One thing was I couldn’t understand is why immortals were born at different times. When Sean Connery met Nash (or McCloud) for the 1st time. Sean was already was already 2000 years old (or something like that).
Another thing I didn’t understand, is the fact the evil guy was trying to kill immortals before the gathering. Is that allowed? And if it is, why even have the gathering, why not just duel it off immediately.
Then there’s the wife that never told Nash that she got raped.
Then there’s the fact that mortals and immortals can’t have kids. Why not? We can have little Hercules and stuff.
Why was Nash at the wrestling match in the beginning of the movie? Was it because he knew of the forecoming battle there?
Finally and the most confusing to me. Chips of his sword seem to be breaking everywhere. How the heck does his sword remain intact?
