Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten

The part of the lyrics that got me was: Feel the rain on your skin, No one else can feel it for you

For some reason, it just got stuck in my head. The chorus tune is nice. The only time I ever listen to the radio is when I drive, so that’s why you see me with these impulsive buys. Plus the fact that these songs are free on iTunes for me, it doesn’t really hurt. You can check out the song at Amazon.com or preview it here.

You can download the full song (mp3) here (from emp3world).

Here are the lyrics: (taken from A-Z Lyrics Universe)

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open

Joan Osborne – One of Us

I heard this song on the radio a few days ago on my drive home and thought this is a song I must get! I don’t have any religion, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not spiritual. I’m what people call agnostic. The song for some reason started a very deep thought as I imagined meeting God on the bus and he turns out just to be someone like us and all he’s doing is trying to find his way home (or my interpretation of finding our way through this world and this life). The song also has a nice tune. I immediately got the song from iTunes when I got home. You can also get the song from Amazon.com. You can preview the song here.

joan osborne - relish

Here are the lyrics: (taken from Any Song Lyrics)

If God had a name, what would it be
And would you call it to his face
If you were faced with him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah god is great yeah yeah god is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
He’s trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in rome

And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if god was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in rome

Seahawks Rule Song

I just heard this song on the Radio (on Mix 92.5): Seahawks Rule. Click here to listen to the mp3. At first, the tune sounded really familiar and when the singing/rapping started, it became clear they were using Gorillaz – Feel Good Inc. tune and with different lyrics.

I heard it when I was on the road, so when I came home I started to search for it on the web. I first went to Mix 92.5’s homepage, but their site was poorly designed and I wasn’t able to find it. So I turned to the magical online search engines. Google didn’t find it. MSN didn’t find it either. At this time, I was about to give up, but I decided to try Yahoo! Yahoo! found it. 🙂

Here’s my attempt on transcribing the lyrics. If you know what goes in the blanks, please let me know and I’ll update.

Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks

City’s going nuts and we’re talking smack
Holmgren at the helm and Matt Hasselbeck
Soon we’ll fill the streets in the emerald city
We’ll win the Super Bowl like Shaun won MVP
Can’t stop Shaun Alexander from just running wild
And unlike last year, he got the rushing title
Babineaux and Boulware with the INTs (interceptions)
Jackson, Jurevicius, Engram going deep

Lofa, Lofa, Tatupu
There’s no one who can stop you
Bryce Fisher on the left side
He will bring your QB down
Herndon, Trufant and A. D.
And Manuel on the secondary
LeRoy Hill, Wistrom and Stevens
‘most every player on defense

Just look at our halfbacks, fast cats,
Defense this season _____,
Let him up with Hasselbeck,
Is the deadliest attack
Seattle’s gonna win it this year
The _____ _____ _____, (bear jump in?)
The road is clear
Just watch us as we celebrate,
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

Yo, we gonna _____ (choke?) down in motown with _____ _____ (dope down?)
The AFC’s gonna bite the dust,
Can’t play with us
There’s no doubt we’ll win the race
So don’t stop, win it, win it,
The Seahawks are the best
Just watch the way I celebrate,
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

Seattle, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle, Seattle Seahawks

Thanks to MandalayX for donating and correcting much of the lyrics. Unfortunately I just found out the Seahawks had lost. Pretty depressing score I must say.

Rob Thomas – This Is How a Heart Breaks

Listened to this new song on the radio a few times and the chorus is just so catchy, I purchased it on iTunes. The song I’m speaking about is Rob Thomas – This Is How a Heart Breaks.

rob thomas - this is how a heart breaks

Lyrics: (taken from A-Z Lyrics Universe)

Don’t you wanna go for a ride
Just keep your hands inside
And make the most out of life
Now don’t you take it for granted

Life is like a mean machine
It made a mess outta me
It left me caught between
Like an angry dream I was stranded

And I’m steady but I’m starting to shake
And I don’t know how much more I can take

This is it now
Everybody get down
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks
You take a hit now you feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake
This is how a heart breaks

Don’t you wanna go for a ride
Down to the other side
Feels so good you could cry
Now won’t you do what I told you
I remember when you used to be shy
Yeah, once we were so fine
You and I why you gotta make it so hard on me

And I’m sorry but it’s not a mistake
And I’m running but you’re getting away

You’re not the best thing that I knew
Never was never cared too much
For all this hanging around
It’s just the same thing all the time
Never get what I want
Never get too close to the end of the line
You’re just the same thing that I knew back before the time
When I was only for you

Amazon.com is selling this CD for $7.50. You can listen to a sample here.

I did find the mp3 online. Not sure how long it’s going to be there, but you might want to read their disclaimer: We strongly suggest you to delete the audio files you downloaded in 24 hours and buy the artist’s CD. Please read our Privacy Policy before you download anything!

I also found this parody music video on Google Video: Exclamation! Films – Rob Thomas – This is How a Heart Breaks.

Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod

I just got myself a pair of Logitech Wireless Headphones for iPod for $80 with a $50 rebate making it $30. It’s pretty sweet! Amazon.com sells the same thing for $95. My only complain about it is it the remote (yes, the bluetooth headphones actually has a remote where you can play, pause, forward, rewind, increase/decrease volume that you can control directly from the right side of the headphone) only works on iPod Gen3/4 and iPod Minis. That means the remote isn’t compatible with my iPod Nano, but it is compatible with my 15GB iPod, but that battery is shot. I think it loses all it’s power within 15 minutes. However, the wireless headphones work perfectly as it is. It’s bluetooth and I get exceptional range. I was listening to the Batman Begins soundtrack on these headphones while taking a dump earlier. I get about 50ft of distance and at the far end of my kitchen is where I actually start losing connection.

Well, I do have somewhat of a second complaint. It’s a big tight on my ears and gets sort of uncomfortable. There’s no way to adjust it to fit comfortably either. But I’m hoping it’ll eventually stretch and bend and fit comfortably after I’ve worn and used it for awhile.

logitech wireless headphones for ipodlogitech wireless headphones for ipod bluetooth receiver

The headphones and bluetooth adapter individually have a lithium battery which is rechargable. According to Artemyst, each charge usually gives about 6-8 hours of play time. It’s been a little over 4 hours now and it’s still going strong!

Before Christmas, I was initially contemplating on getting myself a pair of Etymotic Research ER-6 Isolator Earphones, but that’s placed on hold because I can’t justify spending $100 on earphones yet.

Baracuda – Ass Up!

I recently downloaded a music video and the tune of the song is pretty good. It also has a nice beat. Of course it helps there’s a hot chick singing the song too. As some of you may know, I usually like most trance and techno songs with female signers. Their high pitch just gives a nice sound to the song.

The song is Baracuda – Ass Up! I’d post a cd cover, but I think it’s a bit too explict for most readers and definitely not work safe. The lyrics also are pretty explicit as the title of the song already tells you. But the music is really good dance music and has a nice beat.

You can preview the song here (direct link) or check out the album cover..

You can also watch the music video here.

After some digging around, you can download the mp3 from this compilation I found linked on some forum: EURO DANCE MIX 2005 VOL. 2.

Enjoy!

Noir Original Soundtracks

While I was browsing through my music, I realized my Noir soundtracks had disappeared! Couldn’t believe one of my favorite albums have gone missing. So I regot them last night and am enjoying them non-stop.

I couldn’t find any “legal” preview site, so I’ll just link you to a few of my favorites:

If you do download from anime.plan9.de, you may want to read its rules before downloading or else you’d be block for 15mins. Here’s the direct links to the albums, though I had a lot of trouble with it because it thinks I’m hammering the site. Enjoy!

Mad World

A quite interesting flash video given to me by deadlock: Mad World Collab. At first I thought it was just a compilations of random flash videos to fit the music, but apparently they’re all created for this flash video, but different authors I’m supposing. The song played was taken from the Donnie Darko (Score). It was titled Mad World by Gary Jules. You can listen to a sample here. The original Mad World song was sang by Tears For Fear. You can listen to a sample of it here. I personally like Gary Jules version a lot more, but maybe because it’s softer and utilizes a piano.

According to deadlock, apparently many of the scenes were taken from Donnie Darko and the movie was highly recommended by him. IMDB gave it a 8.3, so I guess I’ll be checking out the movie sometime soon.

Random Crap:

New IM worm chats with intended victims (from /.) – A new worm that targets users of America Online’s AOL Instant Messenger is believed to be the first that actually chats with the intended victim to dupe the target into activating a malicious payload, IM security vendor IMlogic warned Tuesday. According to IMlogic, the worm, dubbed IM.Myspace04.AIM, has arrived in instant messages that state: “lol thats cool” and included a URL to a malicious file “clarissa17.pif.” When unsuspecting users have responded, perhaps asking if the attachment contained a virus, the worm has replied: “lol no its not its a virus“, IMlogic said. A similar article on Ars Technica: New virus chats with you on AOL IM. I guess if you ever see me sending you a *.pif link, DO NOT CLICK IT!

Work bores Japan’s young, many want to quit-surveyAlmost three-quarters of Japanese in their 20s and 30s have no motivation when it comes to their jobs and half would quit if they had the chance, a survey has found. Sounds quite like what happened in Serenity. I guess one day, they’ll just lay down and stop eating and breathing.

Woman Allegedly Hires Hit Man for CheeseIn an unusual case of mistaken identity, a woman who thought a block of white cheese was cocaine is charged with trying to hire a hit man to rob and kill four men. The woman also was mistaken about the hit man. He turned out to be an undercover police officer. Wow! What a chain of events. Mistakening a block of cheese for cocaine, then hiring a hitman, only to find out the hitman you hired was an undercover police! What a bad day for this lady…

Square Wheel Car Propels Itself by Shifting Weight – Possible MEMS LocomotionThe first prototype consisted of a car with 4 square wheels, in the general configuration of a typical car, with all 4 wheels mechanically connected together so they must all turn in unison. Furthermore, the rotational orientation of the wheels are sequentially off-set from one wheel to the next by 22.5° (¼ of 90°), moving around the vehicle in a CW or CCW direction as viewed from above. It’s an interesting idea until you see the demonstration and how unsmooth the movement is. You can check out the video demonstration here. Along with that, there was this link: Riding on Square WheelsStan Wagon, a mathematician at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., has a bicycle with square wheels. It’s a weird contraption, but he can ride it perfectly smoothly. His secret is the shape of the road over which the wheels roll. Now this is actually very interesting. Because the shape of the road, it allows different shape wheels as long the point on any corner of the wheel creates semi-circular humps.

Convert APE to MP3

I downloaded some music in .APE format. APE is a lossless format which is nice, but besides the fact each song is 30megs, iTunes also doesn’t support it. I didn’t particularly needed it to be lossless, so I search online trying to find the easiest way to convert APE files to MP3. I could’ve converted it to WAV using winamp and the encoded it in AAC with iTunes, but I didn’t particularily like that format. Plus that requried multiple steps. The easiest way apparently is a conjunction of foobar2000 and the Lame encoder. After installing foobar2000, copy the lame.exe and lame_enc.dll from the Lame compressed file to your foobar2000 directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\foobar2000). Drag and drop the files into foobar2000 and select the songs you want, right click and then convert. There are MANY different formats you can convert to such as APE, MP3, WAV, FLAC, and many more. LAME/MP3 also had several settings such as standard, medium, extreme, and insane. I didn’t bother trying standard, but medium is VBR of about 160kbps and extreme is 320kbps. I don’t even want to guess what insane is.

Just a really neat tool I thought I’d introduce you. Before, I did most of my audio conversions using Audio Catalyst, which was a useful tool, but didn’t have that many options. But it was rather simple and easy to use. foobar2000 has a somewhat steep learning curve, but once you do it a few times and get the hang of it, it becomes a breeze.

Listen To Your Heart

Ever hear a song on the radio and you thought to yourself, I need to get this song? So I was cruising on my way to work when this song came on the radio. For some reason, piano songs have this effect on me. The only words I remembered with “wake of your smile” and “listen to your heart”. So when I got to work, I googled the phrases and got a song called Listen To Your Heart. Apparently it’s a 1988 song by Roxette, but was revived and mixed recently by a group called D.H.T. which I can only guess was the group that I heard. So when I got home today, I downloaded the song from iTunes (too lazy go search for it) and ended up getting 2 songs which can be found on either album: Listen To Your Heart and Listen to Your Heart [CD-SINGLE]:

listen to your heartlisten to your heart

The group actually has a site up at: {{ D-H-T Featuring Edmee: Listen to your heart }}. They posted the music video of both the radio edit and the unplugged version online, but the quality of both the sound and video are so bad, it doesn’t really do the song justice. You can listen to the sample on Amazon or iTunes.
