Crazy Day

today’s been a rather crazy day. not only did the Giant’s win Game 1 of the world series, but i ran outta space on my 180GB rig today. The Giant’s were awesome and it was a well played game. when Robb Nen entered the 9th inning, i knew the Giant’s had the game within their grasp. Nen has had a perfect post season so far. Anyway, i tend to like to go against the mainstream because there’s no fun going with the main crowd. if i’m wrong then it’s a given. if i’m right, then it’ll be the best feeling. but looks like giants are going to kick angels butt this time. (angels/socal fans – sorry if this offended you in anyway). anyway, rumor is that robb nen is signing autographs on monday for those that are interested in SF Niketown. Any idea what was on this drive? this was all unlicensed anime! this doesn’t included the licensed anime in a separated drive. for time being, new anime will be going into my upload drive. but i really have no idea what to burn right now. nothing is complete yet and i hate burning anime before it’s finished. sigh…

i’ve gotten a question from several ppl regarding the caricature i posted up a few days ago. RTFM means “Read the f*ck*ng manual!”. just to clear this up in case you’ve been pondering on what it means.

Website Updates

sigh… one thing i always forget to do is change the date on these entries. anyway, php is so cool! i rewrote my menu.php file and the file shrunk for 551 lines of code to 154. nice huh? i’ve redone the menu images for the heck of it. i removed several things if you may have noticed. first was the webstats. i decided i should be the only one to have access to this info so too bad ;p. as for the guestbook, dreambook just didn’t cut it, so i decided to remove it until i find a better one which i like, or maybe… maybe i can implement one of my own. i do have the access to do so now. hehe. ^_^x

remember that argument of size i had awhile ago. well, the class finally got there and it was proven so. all the questions i had asked is answered. if you’re interested in finding out why the set of integers is the same size as natural #s, then you should check out this lecture note.

3 new doodles are up. not part of my best work i’ve gotta say. but doodles are doodles. ^_^x

UPDATE: YES YES YES! After 45mins of fidgeting with perl and cgi-scripts, i finally got a working GuestBook. comments and feedback about all these new changes would be nice. ^_^x

Xiao Xiao 9

what a wonderful day! until i remember i had a midterm next tuesday. is dedicating tomorrow to study for it. (but my dedication is so WEAK!) the SF giants lost for their first time today in the national league series. welp, i guess there’s going to be at least 1 happy couple. liam and lydia are apparently going to the 5th game. if giants won 4 games straight, they’d have to refund their tickets. i think baseball is rigged also. giants could’ve obviously won today but to keep raking in more cash, they’re trying to reach game 7.

brother showed me this yesterday. apparently xiao xiao has released a new stickman episode: xiao xiao 9 (link 1 | link 2) this is supposedly a demo and can be found on xiaoxiaomovie.com, but it’s been lagging big time for the past 2 days. on contrary to belief, it’s not a continuation of the xiao xiao 7-8 saga, but a completely new and renovated side scrolling fighting game. the boss may appear impossible to beat, but there is a way… ^_^x

btw, i was told that i have received my FREE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL!!! w00h00! it’s at home right now, or i’d take a picture of it. only thing it said on the package was USA Fulfillment and my family didnt even know what it was and stuck it underneath my table. sister opened it up to day and said, ‘hey you got a small bbq grill’. more info on it here @ fatwallet

Optical Illusion – Same Color?

today was a slow day. nothing much happened.

found this through an anime web server. even after i opened it up with adobe photoshop and did verify that both shades of gray are indeed the same, my mind just won’t settle with that’s the truth… is my mind still trustworthy??? if you don’t get what the picture is saying, it’s just sayin that blocks A and B are the same shade of gray. or is it not…???

found a new awesome tool which will generate webstats logs for me. the webstats link is now added below ‘links’. you can’t miss it. the stuff i display online will be the most generic info. with this new tool, i can ask it how many times has UCLA domains visited my site and it’ll tell me. really neat to track who’s been visiting. so visitor beware! you’re no longer anonymous. ^_^x (i even found someone else has linked to my site – someone i don’t even know! sakusha has been added to my links page – don’t know who she is yet (i think it’s a she) and i’ll find out probably tomorrow when i get a email back.) ^_^x

welp, to end today’s entry, i’ll tell you something hilarious that i was once told. you know how everyone hates telephone salesman that always seem to call you right when you’re eating dinner. well, some guy brought up the most hilarious excuse to get the salesman off the phone.

Stealing?

well, this is the monthly closing entry and i’m sorry to say that i didn’t have much planned for it. sigh.. too much hw! =( however, my website has hit a new record. OVER 1400 hits in September ’02!!! I mean that highest before was in February ’02 with merely 800 hits!

well, i’ll end this month with a little debate cunndogg and i had. think about this question: “Let’s say hypothetically you know that you’d never buy this certain item, but you had the means to reproduce it, and you do. Does that constitute as stealing?” okay, first of all, many of you might bring up the point of selling. You don’t sell it, it’s just for personal usage. Cunndogg brought up the pt of if you are sure you won’t buy it, then you aren’t depriving the original creator anything since even if you don’t reproduce this item, the original creator still wouldn’t have gotten any money from you. I brought up the point that this is just stealing the research and work the creator had to do. Cunndogg says the research and work is already done, therefore you can’t really undo that. And stealing his work/research doesn’t deprive him of anything either IF you knew you weren’t going to buy the item in the first place. Cunndogg brings up the example of a Lexus. Let’s say someone had the means to reproduce a Lexus. He knows he’ll never buy one because it’s just too expensive and outta his league. He reproduces one. He doesn’t deprive the Lexus creator any monetary value or raw material. I thought about this for awhile, and came back that the victim here isn’t really the Lexus creators, but the public instead. since you didn’t have to pay for a Lexus, while everyone else does, you’re depriving them of their money which you and them share the same luxury. cunndogg says that’s not really depriving them since they were willing to pay for it, but he did say because Lexus are luxury items, reproducing it will cause it’s value to decrease. So we go to another example, software. We randomly chose adobe photoshop just for the heck and the amazing price tag on it. Let’s say that a student knew that he/she will never purchase the software. would it be stealing if he downloaded the software for free and used it. on the other hand, there’s a another student that NEEDS the software for a certain class, but he doesn’t have the connections to download the software for free. So he was FORCED to buy it while the other student doesn’t. Cunndogg says that the student who got the software for free, in no way deprived the student who actually bought the software. i said while the student who didn’t buy the software has $400 extra (made up #) to spend, the student who did might’ve used his lunch money for a year. I’m saying that IF it is in your power to buy it, and you don’t because you know you’ll never buy it, then therefore you’re depriving the other student of that $400 that he could’ve spent on other things. Cunndogg says that the 2 students are in no way connected. and even so, adobe photoshop’s main target are businesses. if student’s use them it only makes them become more of a standard therefore actually helping adobe out. The argument sort’ve ended there with other examples including music/mp3 and etc.

I just thought of another rebuttal however. Let’s say IF everyone bought a product, generally, prices will drop yielding more customers. But if half the consumers that uses this product doesn’t pay for it, to make up for lost revenue, they’ll have to increase the price on the remaining customers. therefore, is the victims the public?

Sparkie’s Wedding Invitation

only 30 visits yesterday!!! you guys sure missed out a good one. well, i guess you can always go back and check the old news, but of course it’ll be ‘old news‘ and not fresh anymore. who likes to read old stuff anyway.

welp while i was talking to cunndogg, i recall another tidbit about krunk. i believe this was during 8th grade when krunk was formally invited to a wedding. sparkie and her fiancé (i forgot her irc handle) were getting married and everyone in #psx on irc.newnet.net was invited. well, not everyone but the ops and the voice cause we’ve became really good friends. the wedding was held @ SD and i really wanted to go. i even got formally invited with their invitation. not sure how many of you’ve been formally invited to a wedding before, but i received a really pretty envelope with lots of pretty stationary with a card that said, ‘Dear Toland Hon, you’ve been formally invited by someone and someone (replace those by the parents’ names of the bride) to attend the wedding ceremony of someone (sparkie) and someone (his fiancé). sparkie, volfman, and shortdog all wanted me to come (i was the co-founder of the channel @ the time). i actually still have these cards stuck away somewhere in my drawer @ home. next time i go home, i’ll give you guys a scan of it. ^_^x they said i was going to have a blast getting drunk. not sure if i would’ve really drank that time, but there was that possibility. however, the hard part was my parents. what was i going to say to them. some online friend was getting married and i was invited??? if i lied and said one of my real life friends was getting married, there will be reasonable doubt that i’m lying since i’m only in 8th grade and shouldn’t know anyone near the age of getting married. neway, i was really sad when i had to decline. sparkie even reserved a seat especially for me. after the wedding, me and volfman help designed a website that displayed all their wedding pix. not sure if that website is around anymore.

this has been a really bad week for me. even worse next week since i have a midterm and a project due on friday. skipped 2 classes this week. booooo. was working on cs70 hw this entire day. finally finished ~2am and turned it in (since soda’s right next to me; soda = cs building).

yesterday’s entry got a bit long, but i really wanted to tell you Hikaru no Go 48 is out! w00h00!

Happy Birthday MandalayX

an entire day wasted. i was planning to work too! grrrrr. went to sleep @ 7am last nite. woke up today @ 3pm. watched 49er’s game. what the heck did i do after that? ahhh! i can’t remember! shoot i was also suppose to do laundry today. oh well, guess it’ll have to wait till Tuesday or something.

nothing much to say today, but just wanted to let u know that September has given my website the most visits outta the entire life of this website. it has currently OVER 1000 visits. my previous record was only 800 visits and that was back in Feb. 2001. it’s only 3/4 of the month and i’ve already surpassed my record. wow! thanks to all u guys. ^_^x

Slicktran’s Visit

it’s the beginning of a new month and guess what! NO SCHOOL TOMORROW! hehe. anyway, slicktran came up to North Cal today and ohfuee sorta gave him a tour of berkeley. slicktran’s appearance was quite unexpected for no one knew he was coming till he popped up yesterday.

i’ve been mass downloading anime for the past 2 days since i got my cable connection. the atnt connection here is a lot better than what i had to go through last year. well, that was before i made my network of intranet friends where speeds went up to 5megs/sec. musta put a lotta stress on my harddrive. it’s worse this year for incoming freshmen because the new limit is only 5gb. YUCK YUCK YUCK!

the current dreambook links don’t seem to be working on this new server. i’ll try to resolve that asap, but no one usually talks in there anyway. my new service comes with a forum utility which i might be checking out later. hehe.

and as promised, my sketches are up. so check out the doodle section. ^_^x (after a bit tweaking, i also implemented cunndogg’s special ps7 trick and made the file even SMALLER! wow!

Who’s Hairband Is That?

wow, august is my shortest news log since February! this month was one crazy month i’ve gotta say. 1st week of school is over and now i hit a 3-day weekend. awesome! i didn’t even remember about the 3-day weekend until someone reminded me. although now i recall all my professors mentioning those who has labs on Monday to make up on a Tuesday.

welp, i forgot to tell you guys something very interesting that happened yesterday. i almost broke up the perfect couple because of my careless actions. well, i guess this wouldn’t constitute as ‘news’, but it’s so funny i’ve gotta tell you. as u recall, sueon came and visit yesterday and he visited our new homes. during the walk to ohfuee’s place, kalekkos took off my hairband (no, i’m not a girl but for those that know me, they’ll know why i have a hairband. at ohfuee’s place, i accidentally left it on decathanerd’s desk. guess what happened when cari and decathanerd got home?

cari: who’s hairband is that?
decathanerd: i thought it was yours…
cari: no…

well, the story they told me ended there, but one can only guess how the conversation ended. but everyone that was listening to our conversation could tell cari released a sigh of relief and couldn’t seem to hold her joy inside. I’m really sorry i caused any sort of misunderstanding. ^_^x

great news guys. moving onto another server: catalyst2. the plan i got is 1000MB disk space & 1GB transfer for £11.99/year (US$18.61). not as cheap as cyberwings, but for $1.55/mo with that kind of specs, it’s a steal. i just hope it won’t die on me like cyberwings did. so i’m currently going through a transitional period so some of you may see this on www.krunk4ever.com faster than others who will still be reading stuff through ocf. both sites will be updated; however ocf’s updates will end in 2 days, where i’ll solely put my web data on my new host.

today cunndogg, liam, lydia and I, well it was actually tonite, or even this morning since it is officially 12am already went to a bar. we ordered our drinks and I got a virgin fogcutter (suggested by liam cause it sounded cool). well our waitress apparently only wrote down fogcutter and when i took the first sip of it, it was nasty & bitter. but the show was spectacular. they put dry ice into a little cup and capped it and had holes on the side which shot out steam. it was a extremely fun nite. did i finish the drink? now that’s the mystery.

i promised to showcase my doodles today, but cunndogg’s asleep, and i don’t wanna wake him up with my scanner, so tomorrow. meanwhile, I’ll give you guys the picture of the week. ^_^x

New Scanner

w00h00! got paid for my auction i talked about yesterday. so happy, so happy, so happy. btw, before you go asking me for lunch, i already owe another person lunch, so you’re a bit late. sorry.

good news guys. cyberwings has finally shown some life. light is finally beginning to emerge from the tunnel and hopefully, my site will return to normal status in no time. but then of course, there’s my trip. Probably won’t be able to update much after that.

not sure if i told you guys yet, but i got a new toy! Canon CanoScan N1240U It’s ultra-slim and scans are EXCELLENT QUALITY. only reason my dad got this was he wanted his old b/w pictures to be scanned and reprinted. hehe.
